Eurologos Shanghai: Assisting Italy in the Country’s Participation to the 2010 Shanghai World Expo

Commission of Italy for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo

The Commission of Italy for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo is a government entity that was established to coordinate and organise the Italian presence at the world exposition that will be held in the city of Shanghai from May to October 2010. The Commission is responsible for all initiatives and funds related to Italy’s participation to the Expo, as well as the coordination of all scientific, cultural and artistic events that will be held throughout its 6-month duration.

What is the World Expo?

The World Expo is a large-scale, global, non-commercial exposition, which aims to promote the exchange of ideas between countries and the development of the world’s economy, culture, and science & technology, as well as improve international relationships. A total of 242 countries and international organisations will take part in this year’s showpiece.

Now in its 41st edition, the central theme of this year’s Expo will be “Better City, Better Life”, representing the common wish of the whole of humankind for a better standard of living in future urban environments. Today, this theme represents a central concern for the international community and is set to feature prominently in all future policy making, urban strategies and sustainable development plans the world over.

Italy signed its participation contract with the Expo’s Chinese organisers on 30 April 2008, and since then it has worked on the design and building of its exhibition pavilion, which will house all of the events organised during the exposition. Italy’s pavilion has been named “The City of Man”.

Conveying Italian Ideas and Outlooks for the Future to the Chinese and World Public

Eurologos Shanghai feels greatly honoured for the opportunity to assist the Commission of Italy for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo by being the Commission’s exclusive provider of translation and interpreting services. Thus far, Eurologos Shanghai has assisted the Commission with a variety of assignments ranging from contractual, press release and exhibit material translations to escort and consecutive interpretations for a whole host of formal events, including opening ceremonies, seminars and interviews, in a number of different language combinations.

To tackle these tasks, Eurologos Shanghai carefully selected—as always—the teams of translators, revisers and interpreters, strictly abiding by Eurologos’ stringent methodological and qualitative standards, and all coordinated by a single Project Manager.

Only by providing the Commission with an expert and skilled team have we been able—and will continue to do so throughout the duration of this exiting event—to successfully and accurately convey and share with the Chinese and world public Italian ideas and outlooks for the future, and, hopefully, help to create a brighter future for the world’s cities.
